Publisher's Synopsis

"By the beginning of the 20th century--only a generation removed from the Civil War--the University of South Carolina was a comprehensive liberal arts college with its own 100-year history. Economic activity paved the way to a new enterprise in a new century: the founding of a business school within the local university in 1919. The South Carolina General Assembly initiated the School of Commerce at the University of South Carolina with a simple but important vision: to dramatically expand the education of future leaders of South Carolina politics and businesses and, in turn, elevate and accelerate the economy of the state of South Carolina. The School of Commerce, founded in 1919, evolved into the School of Business Administration in 1946, the College of Business Administration in 1965, and the Darla Moore School of Business in 1998. This book details the 100-year history of the School of Business"--.
