This book is about finding an abandoned stone farmhouse in the Algarve Province of Portugal. It had been built in 1837 on the upsweep of a hill and looked south to the sea. There was a 180° view of the Atlantic and the coast. Restoration was needed, anything wood had rotted away, the tile floors were gone, the roof had collapsed. I would be the only foreigner in a rural village named after a tree. I did not speak the language. There were going to be interesting times to come.
