There are many things that puzzle Tom Swift. But among the most vexing in recent times is the discovery of an impossible planet, and one that has existed within the solar system for possibly as long as the Earth. Now, as Tom supervises a mining operation in the asteroid belt remotely from Shopton, a mysterious something crosses a million miles in front of his ship, the Sutter. Like a ghost in the corner of a dark room, it is vaguely there and yet it is not. And so, he decides to find out just what it is.
