Vic Ryder and Wes Monroe didn't have much in common, but the crossing of their paths in Arizona in the late 1800s melds their destinies together. Wes accompanies Vic to Natchez, Mississippi, where Vic has just inherited a plantation. Roughly 80 years later in the 1960s, Jack Cross just wants to be left alone to live his life as a demolition worker. Racial tension involving his best friend, as well as his discovery of a treasure map from the 1800s, upends his quiet existence and sets him on the hunt for Confederate gold buried in the treacherous Devil's Punchbowl in Natchez, Mississippi.
Ryder Cross, with his 1800s-style of dress, does not look like a man of the 1990s. As the owner of Live Oak Mansion, however, he fits right into his surroundings. He is visited in a series of dreams by Geronimo, who seeks Ryder's assistance transporting his remains back to Arizona, the land of his people. Ryder cannot ignore his request, especially upon learning that his lovely assistant, Calico, has been experiencing the same subconscious visits.
A Final Resting Place is a voyage with over a hundred years between its alpha and omega. The quest starts on the death bed of the great warrior Geronimo and could very well be said to have begun at his birth, as it was a plan by the Creator of all things to answer a prayer which as of yet had not even been prayed. It is an odyssey involving numerous travelers along its road. This written adventure is filled with romance, joy, sorrows, and a healthy sprinkling of history. There is even a touch of the supernatural concealed within its pages.
