Publisher's Synopsis
Most histories of the period have focussed on Italy and its developing Renaissance. The author attempts to correct the balance somewhat by looking more generally at the decline of the Church, the Roman Empires, feudalism, and the guilds and by discussing the political status of Germany, France, Italy, England, Scandinavia, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and the Turkish Sultanate.
