From various agricultural reasons, hunting came to its last sad day even earlier than usual this spring I and we found that we should have time for a good long excursion before the hot weather set in. Where to go was a question soon settled, for we had several tempting invitations from friends in distant countries, and above all one of long standing, which we had always hoped to accomplish at some time or other, and this seemed the very best possible moment for a visit to America.
