In Book 3, The Thirteenth Tribe, Ceda returns to the rag-tag remains of the Thirteenth tribe, and she convinces them that she can lead them to their collective redemption. Things have become worse than ever, however. Many of the Twelve Kings are still alive, and they have vowed to kill Ceda. The northern and southern kingdoms have now banded together and are besieging the city. And the people of the desert many of whom claim no allegiance to the Thirteenth Tribe wish to burn Sharakhai to the ground while it s vulnerable, before it can be taken by either kingdom. Ceda, however, finds the final verses at last and unlocks the final secrets of the poem. She returns to the desert gods and forges a new compact to bring a reign of calm and peace to the desert with Ceda as its Queen."
