This is the first instalment of the Time Quintet Series. Meg Murry, her younger brother Charles Wallace, and her mother had come down to the kitchen for a midnight snack when they were disturbed by the appearance of a most unsettling stranger. The unearthly visitor informed them, ""Wild nights are my glory."" ""I was blown off course after being trapped in a downdraft. Allow me to take a few moments to sit down, and then I'll be on my way. There is such a thing as a tesseract, by the way, when it comes to ways."" A tesseract is a time wrinkle, in case the reader didn't know. More information would detract from the reader's appreciation of Miss L'Engle's unique work. The story of Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin O'Keefe's experiences through space and time is told in A Wrinkle in Time, which won the Newbery Medal in 1963. (athlete, student, and one of the most popular boys in high school). They're looking for Meg's father, a scientist who vanished while working on the tesseract problem for the government.
