It is now over 120 years since Abide in Christ was published, yet the message in this book is still relevant and important today.

There are many important teachings by Jesus to be found in the four gospels, however, we find a special teaching that occurred while Jesus was sharing the last supper with his disciples. The teaching can be found in the Gospel of John, chapter 15. Jesus (Christ) compares himself to a vine and His Father (God), to the husbandman (the vinedresser, the keeper of the vineyard). He uses this metaphor to highlight what he means by "ABIDE IN ME."

Murray describes the importance of understanding the words of Jesus, 'abide in Me.' He says, 'While trusting in their Saviour for pardon and for help, and seeking to some extent to obey Him, they have hardly realized to what closeness of union, to what intimacy of fellowship, to what wondrous oneness of life and interest, He invited them when He said, 'Abide in Me.' This is not only an unspeakable loss to themselves, but the church and the world suffer in what they lose."

Abide in Christ should be required reading for all Christians, in fact, for everybody.
