It's late 1935 and Sue Reed is living with her parents in Rotherhithe, working in the office of local car dealer Fred Hunt. Pretty and vivacious, Sue has many admirers, including her best friend Jane's brother, Ron. But her main love is dancing, and Sue and Jane are always to be found at the local dance hall. When one night the band has a new singer, Cy Taylor, Sue can't help falling for him. Handsome Cy invites her to visit him in his hotel room... Afterwards, however, reality hits hard. For Cy has neglected to tell Sue he is married. And, just when she thinks life couldn't be worse, tragedy strikes. Will Sue ever find the love and happiness she craves?
