Publisher's Synopsis
Aschenputtel, from the Grimm Brothers' Tales for Young and Old (1819), is a darker and bloodier version of the familiar Cinderella fairytale. In the Grimms' version there is no fairy godmother, and the cruel stepsisters are beautiful rather thanugly, but the virtuous and innocent heroine still finds happiness in the end.
