The true descendants of the Atlantis were called Phoenicians by the Greeks. The Greek historian Homer was the one who used it for the first time. Yet, it is unknown what Phoenicians called themselves in their own language; it is assumed that they may have called themselves Canaanites.
The name Phoenician comes from Greek, Phonikes, which means 'red people'. In summary, while the ancient Greeks used to call them Phoenicians, the Eastern civilizations called them Canaanites, whereas the name of this civilization also takes place in the sacred books quite often as Canaanites.
