Jonson helped popularize the comedy of humours as well as satirical plays and he is often regarded as the second greatest English playwright after William Shakespeare. Some of Jonson's classics include The Alchemist, Volpone, Bartholomew Fair, and Every Man in His Humour. Bartholomew Fair is a play that is set at what was one of London's most famous summer fairs. The play is notable for its depiction of London society in the early seventeenth century.
