Publisher's Synopsis
It is the summer of 1862. Captain Nathaniel Starbuck has survived the early battles of the Civil War and the desperate struggle to defend Richmond, but he still has a long way to go before he can feel secure. Not only is Starbuck a northerner, but his well-known opposition to the private regiment's founder, General Washington Faulconer, puts him firmly on one side of an increasingly apparent rift in the Legion.
