The decrease in production and value of the mineral resources in 1908 over that of 1907 is especially noticeable in the larger industries, such as coal and coke, clay products, iron ores and pig iron, stone, talc and soapstone. Some of the smaller ones, on the other hand, Show a marked increase. The total value of Virginia's mineral products in 1908 was as compared with in 1907, a de crease oi or 31 per cent.
