Posy Love wants one thing more than any other: to be a mother. Five years ago she escaped the chaos of her mother's house by marrying Thad Love, a real estate agent fifteen years her senior. A fundamentalist Christian, Thad has strong views on marriage, a man's role as head of the household, and a woman's role as wife and mother. At least he did until he skipped town with another man's wife. On the day Posy discovers her husband's betrayal, her car is repossessed and their house foreclosed on. Thad has cleaned out all of their bank accounts and taken money he should've been using to pay bills. To make matters worse, the only place left for Posy to go is back to her hippie mother, whom she resents. Her mother accepts her with grace, but her brother and sister aren't as generous. Her sister, Rain, points out that being good has gotten Posy nowhere so she might as well start breaking commandments or something. She settles on the Seven Deadly Sins, and in breaking them one by one, she begins to accept her freedom as an individual and heal her relationships with her family.
