Publisher's Synopsis
This is intended to be an unbiased account of the legislative and constitutional initiatives of the British government concerning Northern Ireland over the last 20 years. Each chapter covers four policy areas - constitutional, security, economic and social - to reflect government's belief in a multidimensional approach.;Successive governments have argued that a policy focusing on only one strand is inadequate and that a multidimensional approach is required. Also, much of the existing literature is focused on only one of the four areas mentioned and this book, therefore, is intended to redress the balance by offering an overview which incorporates these four different policy areas.
