Publisher's Synopsis
Hi! I am Martin McGhee. I've been told that I am an extraordinary dog. Some have said that my story is remarkable. I'll let you decide that. My life has been a wild ride but one that's similar to many dogs out there. My life started great. I lived with my family in the woods with plenty of food and shelter in the backcountry of Alabama. We did not bother anyone, and no one bothered us. It felt like a good life for all I remember until that one day. Our pack did everything together, and we loved each other very much. They call us feral dogs. I guess that is because we did not live with humans. We enjoyed our simple life in the woods. I was only able to live that life for a few trips around the sun when everything changed. I do not know why it happened. I know that suddenly I found myself in a strange and scary place, living with humans. My leg had been injured, and I had little hope when a friendly human found me. He took me to the animal shelter and said everything was going to be better for me. Things just kept getting worse. It felt like I was abducted. Can you imagine if, say, a bear came into your home and took you to live in their home? That is close to how I felt being "rescued." Life was hard. My family made life a lot easier, but I lived in a tornado of life for a long time before it got better.Today, I sleep in a bed. It's cool in my home in the summer, and it's warm in the winter. I get snacks and ear scratches, and nub rubs. I have sisters to snuggle and play with. I am always loved and wanted, even when I do not act like they say I should. I have a Mom and a Dad that do all of the hunting and homebuilding. They help me with everything. My Mom is helping me write this book. I do not have thumbs and know nothing of the computer she taps on. Just between us, it's all her fault if the book is not good. I will try to help her make it a good book.Yes, life is good now. It was a long journey to get here. Here's my story...
