Publisher's Synopsis
CALMING THE BEAST is a soulful attempt for a daughter's try to rid herself of deep-seeded and emotions left inside by a father who had the characters of a Jekyll and Hyde. She loved him. She hated him. She shook with fear of knowing he was out in the fields working, and would be coming home-most likely to beat, belittle and cause her to feel like she was nobody. Her 7 sisters and 2 brothers hurt along with her and sometimes wished he were dead so they could live. She thought when she went away, she would leave all of the flares of the Beast behind her, but it didn't take long for her to learn through many sleepless nights that some of the sparks had taken root in her and there was nowhere to run except to face her Demons. When she got a call from home that he was coming to visit her, she panicked and prayed that she could get through the weekend with the Beast in her house. There were some good times in her memories on the farm-like when he bought her ponies and let her ride in horse shows, but she couldn't enjoy them without feeling she needed to be on watch for the Beast and trying to find a way to calm him. She had a spiritual awakening and learned that we all have a spark of the Beast in us.
