Publisher's Synopsis
The new edition of this established work contains a comprehensive set of the legislation that comprises the child support scheme as recast under the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Act 2000. The commentaries to the legislation have been thoroughly revised to take account of the new law. Unlike other areas of child and family law, responsibility for the interpretation and coherent development of child support law lies with the Child Support Commissioners rather than the courts. It builds in many respects on the social security legislation, which is also within the responsibility of the Commissioners. The author is a Child Support and Social Security Commissioner who has unique access to the full range of the decisions in those jurisdictions and is able to give authoritative insight into analysis and interpretation of the scheme. The commentaries retain the contribution made to previous editions by Gillian Douglas, a Professor of Family Law.
