This book is one of the products of the PrIME (Primary Initiatives in Mathematics Education) project. Over 100 teachers were involved in the project and the materials were extensively trialled in many classrooms. These resources are designed to help in implementing the National Curriculum and Scotland's curriculum and assessment policy. They also aim to encourage teachers develop their thinking and understanding about mathematics, its learning and teaching; use a broad range of teaching styles as urged in the Cockcroft report; and take account of new technology in teaching mathematics.;This book is designed to support the mathematics co-ordinators in primary schools who lead INSET, and INSET leaders in local education authorities, this book is organized into units: problem solving and investigation, using calculators and computers, doing and talking mathematics, a cross-curricular approach, managing mathematics learning and teaching, mathematics for all, involving parents and teachers. Each unit suggests activities for INSET sessions. Notes for group leaders are provided for each activity.
