Publisher's Synopsis
This new text/atlas is a sequel to Dr Ackerman's book published early in 1991. Whereas the first volume demonstrated clues that point toward a specific disease, this book also shows how dermatopathologic features can point away from a disease and enable the pathologist to rule out a diagnosis. The presentation follows the same format that made the first volume useful for study, teaching and everyday reference.;For each clue, the book first presents a completely unidentified photomicrograph. The next page shows the same photomicrograph as one in a sequence of three photomicrographs taken at low, intermediate, and high magnifications and identifies the clue and the disease the clue points to or rules out. Dr.Ackerman then discusses the clue, its limitations and subtle variations, and the reasons why the clue excludes other diseases that might be considered in differential diagnosis. Additional photomicrographs follow which illustrate subtle variations or mimicking morphologic and clinical appearances that are easily confused with the clue. The book is indexed by both disease entities and dermatopathologic features.
