Maximilian Van Zuylen and William Radcliffe are born into extreme wealth and privilege on opposite coasts - Max in San Francisco and Will in New York. They meet as high school students and roommates at boarding school in Connecticut. Very much alike, the boys become inseparable. Everyone notices how much they look like each other. Same height, same build, same coloring. Max and Will could be brothers, even twins, but are they? The boys stay together through high school, spend a gap year working and traveling on a yacht in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, and attend Columbia University where they share an apartment near campus. Despite every privilege, every opportunity, something is not quite right. Petty vandalism escalates to serious crimes including property destruction, arson and murder.
