Publisher's Synopsis
The town of Hasting has its secrets and history as all small towns do, but beyond the facades lies an even darker presence. It has existed for centuries, lurking in fear and superstition, but always out of sight. Now it has grown weary of hiding. Years ago, Thomas Masterson discovered the secret: straight out of old tales, myths and folklore there exists in the world a creature that drinks blood to prolong its unnatural life. Now retired, Masterson travels to Hasting to see this thing for himself. But once there, he finds that his years of research have blinded him to an awful truth: the victims are real people, and there is horrific pain when their blood is spilled.
