Publisher's Synopsis

When we think of brave women in history who challenged the paradigm of their day and brought about change, we may think of suffragettes like Emmeline Pankhurst and Millicent Fawcett or nurses of the Crimean war like Mary Seacole. But if we go back a further 1900 years there was a band of women that history has forgotten, women who gave up their lives and their possessions and in some cases even their sons to support Jesus and his disciples. Living in a society that discriminated against women, they had to rise above bigotry each and every day in order to do this. Although forgotten, Mary Magdalene and the other Daughters of Jerusalem were the glue that held the mesh of this movement together. Jesus had cured them of disease and in gratitude they showed a loyalty beyond that of the apostles and they bravely walked behind Jesus to Calvary. They were the first witnesses of the resurrection and their story did not end there because they went on to evangelise in foreign lands themselves. This is their story.
