Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Davenport Ridge, Stamford, Connecticut: Historical Sketch
The village was located and laid out on a level plain, but the parts of the town adjoining the village are composed of hills and eminences of great beauty, and crowned with fine country seats. Back of these the land lies in ridges, run ning north and south, such as Long Ridge, High Ridge, Davenport Ridge, &c. Some of these rise to the height of four or five hundred feet above tide water and afford very picturesque views.
