Publisher's Synopsis
In July 2019, I had the blessed privilege of traveling to Lourdes, France, as a volunteer pilgrim. I, along with other members of the North American Volunteers founded by Marlene Watkins, worked in and around the Sanctuary, guiding sick pilgrims and caretakers through the Sanctuary, assisting in the baths, and attending prayer services. I attended also as a member of the Long Island University, Post, Newman Club, along with two other students and our Campus Minister, Govinda Willard. During our pilgrimage, another student and I would discuss the vibrancy and the individuality of the other volunteers. Our conversations were rather comical. Each person was quite the character - unique, funny, and memorable. Lovingly, we schemed to create caricatures of them within our own writing. Suddenly, the idea for this book came to me.
