Cadets at Waynesboro's Fishburne Military School uncover the plot, also involving a top German spy and a Mennonite farmboy, who is building the new device. Their diligence earns the support of Chief of Staff, General George C. Marshall, another high ranking general, top United States scientists and key American operatives.
Based primarily in Augusta County, action also moves to Virginia Military Institute, Louisville Kentucky, and the Pentagon. From a French farmhouse and u boats in the North Atlantic, through intricate travels in New England and mid-Atlantic states, to the Blue Ridge Tunnel, plot twists are abundant, affecting individuals and communities in surprising ways.
Device and Deceit is Elizabeth Tidwell's second novel based in Waynesboro, Virginia. She began her writing career in journalism, moving to public relations and teaching at high school and university levels. Her current position as a house guide at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello is her dream job and allows time for travel, often to future novel sites.
