Publisher's Synopsis
For the record, her original name was Irma Dorette Henriette Erich-Grimme, and she was born in Hamburg. How she became Irma Duncan, and later Mrs. Sherman Rogers, is vividly told in these pages.
Today, with her lawyer husband, Irma Duncan lives in a pleasant green-shuttered house among the hills of Columbia County, New York. Her own paintings decorate the walls, her own gourmet cooking graces the daily table and delights her fortunate guests. But her superb collection of memorabilia of the active years - letters, photographs, notebooks, programs, clippings from newspapers and magazines, and the like - is for the most part elsewhere. These materials now form the Irma Duncan Collection, one of the most precious holdings of the New York Public Library's Dance Division.
