Publisher's Synopsis

Dust is a two act play for five actors, commissioned to mark the bicentenary of Virginia Theological Seminary. Moving through time and space in the company of The Maker, playwright Non Vaughan-O'Hagan uses the history of this Episcopal seminary as a way to explore the wider story of the United States in all its challenging aspects. Dust spans the language of the native American Piscataway peoples to the Obama inauguration-with a few corny jokes along the way. This edition reflects the production directed by Ryan Rilette, Artistic Director of the Roundhouse Theatre.

About the Author
Born and raised in Aberystwyth, Wales, Non Vaughan-O'Hagan is an international award-winning playwright and screenwriter. Dust is her fifth play commission, her first in the United States. Other plays include A Play Upon Words (about the creator of the Thesaurus, Peter Mark Roget) and I, Dido, about the establishment of the abolitionist movement in eighteenth-century London. Subsequently adapted into a short film, I, Dido has enjoyed critical acclaim and nearly thirty awards at film festivals worldwide. Non's next screenplay, Mr Moore's Gift, is about the creation of the classic American poem "'Twas the night before Christmas."
