This book started as 'an open letter to our children' and evolved into a compendium of our lives. Through a wide collection of journal entries, narrative memoir, photos, art, a brush of poetry, physics, psychology, and philosophy, Entangled is an effort to find meaning in the sometimes happy, sometimes chaotic life our family--our children lived, and still live, as their mother and my wife of over half a century begins to retreat, to disappear into another place.This 'place' can seem dark and empty, but with some shifting of the ways we view our lives and ultimate death, we may discover that it is not empty at all and not defined by words like dark or light. Entangled is a testament to a girl victimized in early childhood and the woman she became. Entangled provides a look at the life-long mental/physical health consequences of childhood abuse and the heroic efforts of this woman to confront life on a daily basis. Finally, with dementia interrupting, disrupting, and re-defining our lives we have choices, not about absolution but of acceptance and letting go.
- Love in the Time of Corona is an added text that captures the impact that the Covid-19 Virus has had on our family as it sweeps across our country, around the world. How it severely interfered with our connection and visitation opportunities in the memory care unit where my wife was placed.
