Publisher's Synopsis

A collection of classic features from the iconic British film studio. 'It Happened in Paris' (1935), directed by Robert Wyler and Carol Reed, follows wealthy young American Paul (John Loder) as he tries to make it as an artist in Paris. At one point this involves feigning poverty, which threatens to lead Paul into trouble. 'Autumn Crocus' (1934), directed by Basil Dean, stars Ivor Novello and Fay Compton as an unconventional pair of lovers. 'Secret Lives' (1937), directed by Edmond T. Gréville, follows the fortunes of Lena (Brigitte Horney), a German woman who, against her will, is recruited by the French to act as a spy during World War I. Finally, 'The Dictator' (1935), directed by Victor Saville, explores the loveless marriage of Princess Caroline Mathilde (Madeleine Carroll) of 18th century Denmark and her subsequent affair with the royal physician Dr Struensee (Clive Brook).
