Publisher's Synopsis

This trainersÆ resource book consists of ideas, activities and exercises to develop or enhance lifeskills in ways which promote maximum personal autonomy. It is aimed at trainees, predominantly in pre-vocational and vocational settings, but is also highly suitable for those in full-time and part-time education. The book has been successfully piloted not only with trainees in the UK and in Europe (mainstream and special needs), but also in the context of training-the-trainer courses. It is ideal for schools, youth services, FE colleges and youth training agencies wishing to stage their own æin-houseÆ courses in lifeskills and personal and social education. - - The book consists of four major sections: Assertiveness, Communication, Job Seeking and Lifeskills. The grouping of the activities enables the user to create courses based around specific skill areas or to combine the sections to cover more than one skill area. Activities can also be used on an ad hoc basis as æstand-aloneÆ units and are set at different levels to suit different needs. They are intended to be supplemented or adapted by users if necessary.
