Publisher's Synopsis
Lewis is a self-made man. He's been working twelve-hour days for years, and his Charlotte, North Carolina diner is finally turning a profit. He's proud of everything he's achieved: financial independence, freedom from bosses, and keeping alive the old diner tradition. Then, one day in April, a blizzard blows in. That in itself is strange for North Carolina, but Lewis doesn't think much of it. However, before long, there are armed vigilantes and military convoys on the road. The temperature keeps falling and the snow piles up foot after foot. Soon, he and the people who've taken shelter in his diner are faced with the possibility that something has gone very wrong with the world, and the prospect of trying to survive in an Antarctic wasteland.
