Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from From New Zealand to Lake Michigan
Those conditions were made known, and on the other hand, an account of the wonderful changes brought about by the sudden intrusion into it of a vigorous civilized people, to afford my readers some idea of the impulse given to western settlement, by that discovery, an impulse which was soon afterwards strongly felt both in Australia and New Zealand. My work has been written in the belief, that this course would be far more interesting and instructive than namby pamhy experiences of travel, or crude observations.
