Publisher's Synopsis

War has come to the Quayas Kingdom. Invaded without warning or cause by their neighbor, the kingdom of Hesperides, Quayas sends a single knight, Duncan, out to the occupied town of Bevayne to collect the Sibyl, the local seer, and whisk her far away from the conflict and out of Hesperides' hands.

However, Duncan's mission is unexpectedly changed once he reaches the Sibyl: she tells him to leave her and take her daughter, Jochebed, instead. Jochebed also carries the gift of visions, and her existence is, so far, unknown to Hesperides. Duncan agrees, and thus begins an adventure that will change their lives forever.

Duncan meets several new companions along the way: Barley, a magic scarecrow with healing powers; Zed, a lizard man merchant who can fight and charm with ease; Juniper, a brave sprite who defies her own queen to help them; and Gwendoline, another seer from the mysterious Northern Continent.

Jochebed begins to have visions of an old castle in a forest, surrounded by mountains. When the visions start to include Duncan, standing inside the castle throne room, the pull of destiny cannot be ignored. The companions embark on a quest to find the castle, which Gwendoline believes to be the long-abandoned keep of the ancient Gaxali Kingdom on her continent.

Meanwhile, King Andrew of Quayas and the Sibyl are taken prisoner to the capital of Hesperides, where they meet with the hot-headed King Demetrius and the eccentric General Spar, whose grand designs are just beginning to unfold...
