Excerpt from General Catalogue of the Newton Theological Institution, 1826-1943: With Biographical Sketches of Professors and Students in Andover Theological Seminary, 1931-1943
Catalogue with considerable reluctance. A biographical catalogue is never finished and perfection is never achieved. Even accuracy is not assured, for sketches must be compiled from records of varying authenticity and even when the facts are cor rectly ascertained, many an error in typography eludes the most alert proofreader and results in the publication of false informa tion. Needless to say, the Editor has endeavored to present as accurate a volume as is humanly possible and has corresponded widely and consulted many records in person to achieve this end. Much supplementary data not included herein has been gathered and is on file at the Library for, future reference. Any information which will complete or correct any part of this Catalogue will be considered a favor and may be addressed to the Editor at the Library.
Although nearly two years have been allowed for the prepara tion of this edition the Editor has been under some little handicap especially in bringing it to completion under the exigencies of the present war situation. Many additional facts for example could have been secured in normal times regarding our alumni in foreign lands.
