Publisher's Synopsis
The 39 papers presented in this volume review the recent developments and results in the domain of global change research utilizing satellite data. A wide range of topics is covered such as the progress in spaceborne sensors and data systems, international and national programmes, studies of physical, chemical and biological aspects of Global Change research and use of satellite data in developing countries. The role of space data to support the emerging concept of Earth system monitoring through the GCOS, GOOS and GTOS (Global Climate/Ocean/Terrestrial Observing Systems) is emphasized throughout the volume.
