Publisher's Synopsis
Since the Peaceful Revolution of 1989/90, scientific studies on the history of the medieval county of Henneberg, its lords and residents have again increased in number. It is thanks to this more recent research that interest in the Counts of Henneberg awoke from a decade-long slumber. However, the successful efforts to eliminate research desiderata only make existing gaps all the more apparent. Detailed considerations of individual members of the Henneberger Grafenhaus have been rare until now. At least for the person of Poppo VII von Henneberg, Janis Witowski's study is a comprehensive investigation that not only provides valuable insights into the history of Henneberg, Thuringia and Franconia, but also puts some outdated (research) opinions into perspective and eliminates long-held errors.
