Publisher's Synopsis

Guntown, Pa is a collection of short stories. These are set in the 1950s and 1960s of a small mill town in Western Pennsylvania where the author was growing up. Most are true and some are fiction, but together they reflect the typical social and economic structure of any town based on light industry of that begone time. Guntown, Pa includes stories that let one into factories, small businesses, bars, clubs, homes and a church and school.
In a sense, Guntown Pa is a tribute to the Gibbsville, Pa short stories set decades earlier by John O'Hara of Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Yet it was influenced by the style of short stories by Jean Shepherd who combined some of his works into the TV marathon classic A Christmas Story.
At times poignant, at times sentimental and at times humorous each story is a literary prescription to be taken once an evening before bed for a restful night's sleep.
