Water resources are sources of water that are useful or potentially useful. Uses of water include agricultural, industrial, household, recreational and environmental activities. An urban environment is the environment of a city; usually characterized by many buildings in a limited amount of space. The text Handbook of Water Resources and the Urban Environment discusses the alternative methods for obtaining a sustainable water supply and uses in urban areas, such as the creation of constructed wetlands. First chapter presents an overview of scenario to support water resources planning, development, and management. In second chapter, we highlight recent advancements in the management of water, and in monitoring of microbial water quality in drinking water production and recreational waters. In third chapter, we apply GIS technology to estimate soil loss rates per land use type in a quaternary catchment using two common approaches that generate rapid soil erosion assessment results at a low cost. The goal of fourth chapter is to expand the focus of interest of the resource-based approach beyond the limited number of fisheries target species and to include juvenile stages of fisheries species to examine the functional role of FWI in shaping the total nekton assemblage structure in estuaries. The water rights analysis package (WRAP) modeling system which simulates the water allocation systems has been described fifth chapter. Sixth chapter discusses how to manage the effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals in wastewater-impacted streams. Environmental factors that influence cyanobacteria and geosmin occurrence in reservoirs have been discussed in seventh chapter. Eighth chapter provides a general overview of the impacts of hydrologic alteration and presents several management approaches, which have been developed to address it. The purpose of ninth chapter is to provide an overview of hydrological behavior throughout West Africa based on point, local, meso and regional scales observations. Geospatial analysis of water resources for sustainable agricultural water use in Slovenia has been focused in last chapter.
