Set in Colonial America during the War for Independence, Hessian brothers Heinrich and Eberhard Haeger are conscripted into the German mercenary army that serves English King George III. The brothers are soon at odds and then separated in 1776 during battle. Their lives take very different directions as they are involved with the Burkhard family of Pennsylvania German Lutherans, Philadelphia Irish, New York Loyalists and members from Iroquois Nation. This is a story that will show the complexities and struggles of the time when our nation was very divided and strong Christian faith of individuals made the difference in America's ?ght for freedom.
Carolyn Beale Shotsky is a Christian American historian who has had a lifelong interest in history. A native of south-central Ohio, she has spent years in her rural environment studying and experimenting with what it was like to live in pioneer times. In this book the reader is immersed in the emotions of everyday activities of the characters as they lived their various views and politics of the years of the American Revolution.
