Publisher's Synopsis

Dramatic account of the race to develop the atomic bomb, the ethics and politics behind it, and the events which led to its use at the end of World War 2. It begins with Hungarian physicist Leo Szilard (Michael Tucker) discovering how to split the atom and subsequently attempting to persuade the US government to build an atom bomb. The government takes up the challenge, and assigns the hard-nosed military-man General Leslie Groves (Brian Dennehy) to oversee the project. But as the weapon nears completion, many involved begin to have doubts about what they have created.
