Publisher's Synopsis

Two Iowa teenagers, Sam and Katherine, steal away in the dead of night hoping to start a new life in Florida as Mr. And Mrs. Samuel Fleet. Katherine's father arrives in time to stop the nuptials and return his daughter to Iowa, leaving Sam with the choice of spending time as the guest of The State of Florida, or joining the Army. Sam's choice was not difficult. He opted for the uniform and rifle over the pickaxe and leg irons. Some 68 years after the couple's unsuccessful attempt at marriage, Sam tracks Katherine down and marries her. The elderly couple uses their honeymoon to embark on a journey to retrace the trail of their teenage elopement. Along the way, Sam will discover some truths about his past dealings with Katherine's father and the man's "accidental" death. The two befriend a stray dog during their travels and the trio find themselves actually growing younger.
