Publisher's Synopsis
A child is rescued from a river with a mark on his shoulder. Jakob investigates if this is related to witchcraft. Children disappear and an orphan is found dead with the same tattoo. Theres a rumor that Martha the midwife, is a murderous witch. Jakob with the help of Magdalena, his daughter, and Simon, the doctor, faces a devil that hides behind the town walls.
