Publisher's Synopsis
The Invasion, the first book from the Argentinean writer Ricardo Piglia, was published in 1967. Here Piglia adds five more stories from the same era to the original ten, and a further two unedited stories. This collection articulates with maturity the narrative world of the author: his thematic obsessions, his particular use of language and the unusual exposure of the internal mechanics of his best stories. The collection includes historical fiction, fallible biographical sketches of the defeated and obscure, and heartfelt stories of childhood. At its heart it is a very personal exploration into the folds of the official history of his country.
