Publisher's Synopsis

Look to the Crocus is Marion McCready’s third collection of poems, following Tree Language (2014) and Madame Ecosse (2017). Her writing is both feminist and Scottish and the combination gives her work a unique character. McCready shows the influence of, among others, Sylvia Plath and Theodore Roethke, but her qualities of earthiness and intense lyricism are all her own.

The American poet, Don Share, says of her work that ‘she ups the ante in every line,’ and of Madame Ecosse Vicki Feaver remarked that it ‘is breathtakingly brilliant.’ Look to the Crocus is certain to enhance McCready’s already substantial reputation and to bring her new admirers.
