Hester Latterly, a doctor by profession, has found a new job that seems quite simple: accompanying an elderly, kind woman on her travels to London. The task becomes complicated, however, when the woman dies suddenly in her sleep. After conducting an autopsy, Hester discovers that her charge has been poisoned, and Hester is the only person who can figure out by whom.
