In the very middle of the forest was the oldest of oak trees, a magnificent gnarled old magical tree as old as Merlin himself - because Merlin the magician had lived in this very spot in Louphole Forest. But that was a long time ago. Now, in the summer afternoons the forest was full of sunshine, and all the leaves on the trees were so happy enjoying the heat from the sun and the breeze through their branches. Now louphole forest was the home of many small animals, namely Henrietta, the mother of all the chickens, and Mr Hare who was known as The Major.
