Publisher's Synopsis
This work is a comprehensive, largely anecdotal, chronological compilation of all the transactions made by Major League Baseball prior to and during the 1946 season, which was baseball's first full year after World War II. A major feature of this work are the charts that illustrate daily player use throughout the season and outline the constantly-changing rosters of each of the 16 major league teams of 1946 from opening day to the unprecedented National League playoff between the St. Louis Cardinals and Brooklyn Dodgers. The charts include such information as the position(s) played by each man on a given day and explanations of absences due to illness, injury, and suspension. Sixteen pages of annotated rosters summanze the comings and goings of many of the players of 1946.
